can anybody tell me what is the difference between http and https?
Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is the secure version of HTTP, the protocol over which data is sent between your browser and the website that you are connected to. The 'S' at the end of HTTPS stands for 'Secure'. It means all communications between your browser and the website are encrypted.
http: http is not secure becase in the http that are not encrypted a words.
https: https is secured because that are encrypted a url words.
Http stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. It allows World Wide Web users to transferring information like image, text, video, music, graphic and other files on web pages. Http is basically used to access html pages and also other resources can be accessible using HTTP.
on the other hand,HTTPS stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure. HTTPS is a protocol which uses an encrypted HTTP connection by transport-layer security.
1. Port number 80 in used in HTTP for communication and HHTPS uses 443
2. HTTP is considered as unsecure connection ans HTTPS is Secure connection
3. HTTP doesn't need any certification but HTTPS needs SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Certification.
HTTP is the protocol through which the web browser on client's machine communicates with the server on which the requested website is hosted. The communication through this protocol is done in plain text and hence it has security risk. So to make the communication secure, HTTPS protocol is used where the data in communication is encrypted before transferring through the internet.
