Does a filled up hard disk slow down your computer?
A simple full vs empty won't have any noticeable effect on the speed. What will affect the speed is the fragmentation level of the drive. If the files on a drive are highly fragmented it will be slower due to having to seek around to a bunch of different locations on the drive to read a file.
Re: Does a filled up hard disk slow down your computer?
In my opinion a filled up drive does effect the speed of the computer but by a sizeably negligible margin. But, there is nothing to worry because the computing is done in the processor with aid of queue-ing from the RAM. HDD does not play a significant role in data processing, so it has less negative effect on the speed of the computer.
Peace.
