To find keywords with 'buyer intent' that convert visitors into customers.
To get ideas for content so that you can write on subjects people in your niche are searching for.
Google Keyword Planner tool is free and great BUT only gives you search volume and doesn't display whether keywords are easy to rank.

Google planner keyword tool is best for keyword search and ranking. Go to your Google Adwords account and open keyword planner from Tools tab.
