A static web page, sometimes called a flat page/stationary page is a web page that is delivered to the user exactly as stored. You can build static web pages with software like DreamWeaver on your computer. Then need to upload the pages to your host’s server using FTP software like FileZilla for example. Every time you will need to change something on your site, you will have to edit the pages on your computer and upload them again. The website never changes by itself. That’s why it’s called a “static” page. Find more information at Web hosting Beginners guide

Facebook, Google+, YouTube etc., are the Dynamic websites.
Information based can be static sites. In static sites web pages doesn't change, in dynamic website content can change time to time.
A user can communicate with the website using forms, login etc., actions in dynamic site.

Static websites can only really be updated by someone with a knowledge of website development. Static websites are the cheapest to develop and host, and many smaller companies still use these to get a web presence.

A static website contains Web pages with fixed content. Each page is coded in HTML and displays the same information to every visitor. Static sites are the most basic type of website and are the easiest to create.
