I will not suggest you to concentrate on it much. You are in first year, concentrate on courses and learn as much basic concepts as possible. Regarding certification, since you know you can clear those exams just leave it there. You can always give certification when required, it'll not take much time.

Try to learn instead of trying to get certificate that you learned, I have seen guys who scored 100 in SCJP (now OCJP) and cannot even write nested for loop.
