What do you mean by normal hosting? Shared one?
The virtual private server is the happy medium between the two alternatives. The server is partitioned and your company is afforded an entire one of the partitions.

Let me explain. VPS is a hosting platform that is different from a traditional hosting because it is a virtual server that is a slice of a physical server. On the order hand, a traditional hosting or simply shared hosting is a hosting platform where a number of websites shared a single server. In sum, VPS is a solution that lies between a shared host and a dedicated server.

While shared hosting is best for personal sites and startups, VPS hosting wins for larger sites and small businesses. VPS is more expensive than shared hosting, but in return, you get more flexibility over your resource limits, as well as greater security and improved performance.

Who said they are different? They are the same thing in today’s world. If there is any provider who’s VPS is not already on the cloud, then you should look elsewhere.

VPS is nothing but a virtual server on the cloud & Cloud Hosting is nothing but a hosting account on that VPS. They aren’t different except for how much CPU and Memory you are allowed to use. In cloud hosting, there are limitations since many cloud hosting accounts are running on the same VPS. If you own/rent a VPS, you can use all the power the VPS offers instead of only being allowed a pie of it with Cloud Hosting and as soon as you hit those limits, the provider will tell you, its time to move onto a VPS.
