    - compress all images for web-based quality.
    - Use external JS and CSS files.
    - Avoid re sizing images in HTML.
    - Remove broken link from your web site.
    - Load javascript at the end of your document.

    speed of website loading depends upon the size of web page i.e images, scripts and other codes apart from HTML.

    Also if your server supports it, gzip all your external files (.js,.css,images) and
    use CSS sprite image technic.
