Came across this forum and seems full of interesting stuff that will be useful! So hello!
I'm studying the CIW Web Master course and using Lynda.com for the CS4 suite stuff. Really enjoying it but sure I'm pretty low down on the knowledge levels at the moment.

I have just tried to send my first creation live using 1and1 but dreamweaver has reported that some files have been skipped in the upload? Like index.html and an image. I have no idea what might be causing this. Also I can't see any change in my 1and1 control panel (there FAQ's aren't much help), is this normal? Or will it just connect once the 'put' is successful fully. Do i need to look for something in the FTP log on dreamweaver? So many questions! Sorry.
So I'm gradually going bald pulling my hair out... which led me to google... which in turn lead me here!
If anyone has a useful tip for me that could help that would be great!
Right I'm off for a 15 min break (cuppa and sugar rush in the form of biscuits), just realised I've been trying to sort this for about 4 hours. Fresh eyes and all that!

Ah I did CIW a few years ago. How are you finding it?

I don't use Dreamweaver... for development I find it clunky. Have you tried downloading filezilla. This is a dedicated FTP program. Download -> Install -> Enter hostname / user / pass -> connect -> upload folder.

If you have any error messages, this program will tell you why they are getting them a bit better than what DW is giving you.
