What is major difference between dedicated and shared hosting and which one is better for me?

You may start from reliable shared hosting service which ifastnet.com provides.
iFastNet has the Soficulious script installer where you can install in just a single click over 256 scripts instantly! This is is really cool for setting up a new wordpress, Joomla, PHPbb forum or anything very fast and easily, I used the coupon code 'railgun' which discounts 15%.

At the end of the day the real difference has to do with reliability and availability vs price.
Shared hosting is cheaper and given the right people to share the server with works just fine. But if you get one resource hog who crashes the server a few times a day it can really destroy your website uptime. This is where dedicated hosting comes in because you don't need to worry about availability (unless you're getting intense amounts of traffic but thats for a different day)

My preferable option to get shared hosting plans is 27hosting.com (http://27hosting.com/). This hosting provider is offering quality services, skilled technical team and reasonable deals.

I think 4Goodhosting is a great choice. I ordered new hosting package from them and I can say that it is much better than Hostgtr according to the uptime rates and server speed. Their customer support is really fast as well. I am sure this is the right host for your domain.

As both name said, Dedicated Hosting is all dedicated to one client only and it cannot be shared with anyone. The amount of Space, RAM, Memory Storage, admin panel etc will be used by one client only.
On other hand, Shared hosting is shared by more than one client. Here you share the configuration like RAM, Memory storage etc.
If you are just starting hosting your domain then I would recommend you shared hosting (http://hosting.trijit.in/shared-hosting). It would be cost effective for you. Later on you can upgrade it to VPS hosting.

You can rely on Hostdepot.com (http://Hostdepot.com/). Its server is also more stable and reliable than the host I had.
Top notch support, affordable pricing, and I haven't seen a bit of downtime.

You may start from digitalserver.com.mx or obhosting.com.
Both companies are able to satisfy the needs of many webmasters in the IT world.
Prices are affordable and their technicians are fast and helpful.

the difference lies in the use of the servers as in dedicated form the whole server is kept reserved for a specific user while the shared server serves number of users to get their request fulfilled

I suppose you should have more options to choose the suitable one. I recommend to try Planethoster.net services which are well-known among webmasters as quality and experienced.
