There are no benefits one way or the other concerning a web site. It all depends on what you are comfortable with. All of those long-winded articles just ramble on and on without touching on the important question about a website; does it show up well? 5yrs ago there wasn't a page on the www that wasn't set in tables. That was the simplest and quickest way to place content on a page. It still is! ..

DIV tag is beneficial to develop layouts of websites. A website developed through table tags usually distorts when you press Ctrl and + keys on your keyboard to magnify its view. Div tag in CSS does not cause distortion to the site during its magnification.
