There is no risk of using Free SSL Certificate for your website. But free SSL certificate have some limitations,

Limitations of Free SSL certificates

Any certificate authority will offer you free SSL certificate for limited time period (1,2,3 months).
Free SSL Certificate is for domain validated so you cant use them to protect your E-Commerce website.
As it is for domain validated SSL it will a big question for users to share information with you.
Free SSLs aimed to protect small/medium scale websites, so you can't use them to protect large scale websites.
No refund policy will be offered by certificate authority during installation period
