Magento is an e-commerce platform written in PHP atop the Zend framework, available under both open-source and commercial licenses. It is written in an advanced object-oriented idiom that uses the MVC pattern and XML configuration files, aiming for flexibility and extensibility.

Hi Friends,
Magento isn’t built using some other PHP framework. Rather it makes isolated use of Zend and Symfony components. But overall, Magento is an ecommerce framework built in PHP. It’s not some below par product built with Laravel or something. You cannot build something like Magento and have all the overhead of frameworks like Zend, Symfony and Laravel. They may be good for quick jobs, but Magento needs to handle lots of products, sales, customers.
