Are there any limitations to a WordPress website?

If you plan to run a blog, nothing beats WordPress. But as the complexity of the website increases you prefer having your own CMS. There are plugins available for almost everything, but some of them charge you as well. One of the disadvantage of plugins is that if you fail to update a plugin it can be host to viruses and hacking.

There are no limitations, you can create just about anything due to the fact that you can add your own custom PHP code to allow for further expansions. Plugins, customizable themes and extensions further add to the power of WP.

The only limitations which I can think of would be the performance hits which WP can take, especially for large eCommerce websites with hundreds of thousands of products on them. In that case, I advise looking for performance plugins that optimize your database.
