Alexa rank is calculated by combining a site's estimated traffic as well as visitor engagement over the previous three months. Traffic and engagement are estimated from data provided by its toolbar. This monitors a user browsing behavior which acts as a sample of all Internet users.

Alexa's traffic rankings are based on data collected from the Alexa Toolbar, a browser extension that provides users with information about the websites they visit. The toolbar collects information about the websites visited by users and sends it to Alexa's servers, where it is processed and used to calculate website traffic rankings.

The Alexa Traffic Rank is calculated using a combination of the estimated average daily unique visitors to a website and the estimated number of pageviews on the site over the past three months. The data is further weighted to take into account the relative popularity of different countries, to give a more accurate picture of a website's popularity on a global scale.

It's important to note that Alexa's traffic rankings are based on a sample of internet users who have the Alexa Toolbar installed and therefore, may not accurately reflect the traffic of a website. Additionally, the rankings can be affected by factors such as the number of people using ad-blockers or the number of people visiting a website using browsers that don't support the Alexa Toolbar.
