I would like to know about the best ecommerce software from the point of experienced webmasters.
What is the best e-commerce software?
That is a really broad question now-a-days since there are so many ecommerce scripts and so many different reasons. For example, WHMCS is considered an ecommerce script but so is X-Cart. They are labeled for 2 separate markets.
The top 3 for general ecommerce that I have received the most good reviews are:
-OSCommerce
-X-Cart
-CubeCart
They also tend to be the most popular and well known scripts though too which probably have something to do with it. I think though it is best to stick to the name brand scripts since the community base is bound to be larger which always helps when it comes to bugs, support and customization.
I have good things about magento commerce software, the majority of web masters use this software.
Moreover, Miva Order shopping cart software can be also good for running e-commerce web sites.
I have heard the abundance of good feedbacks about magento software and highly recommend it for you.

Taking the advantage of the opportunity, I would like to say that magento commerce is a great ecommerce software... many webmasters appreciate it and prefer to use.
My suggestion is to spend some time writing a list of all the features you really need and those you would like. You've mentioned a couple already but I'm sure there are more.
then when you have the list try and get to test as many ecomm storefronts as possible before you decide.
Before I launched my first store I did a similar exercise. To be honest it took me about 3-4 months to decide. I would spend quite a while investigating a particular solution until I decided a particular flaw was simply not liveable.
To give you a feel, for me some requirements were, as a UK based store: support for non US$ currencies, support for UK postal systems, and UK payment providers. More generically, I wanted total flexibility over the look-and-feel and the comfort factor that if I needed to achieve a certain bit of functionality that didn't come out of the box, I could still achieve it somehow at a later stage.

There are thousands of companies who have that exact deal though.
If you plan on offering that many products, I think you should pay a designer to make you a customized solution. Having a cheap cart isn't a good idea if you plan on having that mahy products because it'd be hard to manage such a big amount. www.intershop.com is a more professional cart and is used by www.actionvillage.com which houses there own inventory, and have ALOT of products.
Somethingmore customzed would allow your designer to build an way to effective organize and manage such a big selection.

You should check out Yahoo shopping cart. I have noticed that a lot of sites use it. I have used 1shoppingcart along with Worldpay in the past. They both were good. However, in future I would use a stand alone option like Yahoo.

I use http://www.fortune3.com and doesn't integrate with eBay but it does with Google. I'm sure a programer can do that if thats what you're looking for, does really well for the search engines too though.

The best ecommerce platform is Product2Web.
This solution is great is you are planning on entering the affiliate networks and is 100% performanced based on cost.
If you are not planning on entering the affiliate networks, then the solution can still be used and customized to any extent at an upfront cost.
Features include:
* Landing Page Creator to easily build an unlimited number of landing pages with built-in SEO to direct sell your product
* Advanced eCommerce system to sell your products with built-in merchant account load balancing
* 24 hour Bandwidth monitoring and management
* Affiliate Technology to build and manage an entire network of affiliates to sell your product everywhere on the web
* Statistical Reporting Module that tracks sales, order management, A/B Reporting, Pixel ID, and affiliate sales
-And for the store-
* Product Attributes- Each product can add personalized attributes or include other products in the system as attributes. An example of a personalized attribute would be color and size. An example of adding a product would be giving the choice to have a helmet, gloves and a jacket to a snowboard purchase. Customized attributes can be stored in a profile and added to multiple products saving data entry time.
* Feature Products- Feature products appear on the homepage of the web store. It is very easy to feature a product in the system. You simply check a box in the product edit screen and it features.

Its absolutely free and totally customizable.
Magento is considered to be one of the best ecommerce software. Even though nowadays many of them use Zen Cart as a software solution, Apart from them many of them prefer a customized solution as they want to cater software in accordance with their specific requirement.
OS Commerce is very difficult to install and use – and it’s very limiting. There’s not enough features to run an entire professional business. The same goes with ZenCart. Magento almost has it right, but it’s also very difficult to install and it’s slow.
You should look into a total online business platform such as Haiku Online Business which handles shopping cart, website, customer database and marketing features. It’s a hosted solution so you don’t have to worry about the technical stuff either. All the other bases are also integrated, such as the payment gateways, shipping modules etc., and you can even give your customers coupons and vouchers. It’s an all in one solution so you don’t need to juggle multiple systems.
I think PrestaShop is best.Is an open source e-commerce free software and It supports payment gateways such as Google checkout.
There are many E-commerce softwares available like Zen Cart, osCommerce, Magento, CubeCart, PrestaShop, etc.
Nowadays it seems like everyone is shopping online. As per my view Altteam is best software for E-commerce. Some licensed E-commerce software has also free versions and they are included in the first variant.
hi newbie to ecommerce can you explain what ecommerce is??its applications and functionalities and anything related to ecommerce business sites...
For free I like cubecart and oscommerce.
According to me Magento is best ecommerce software. Magento allows merchants to create, build and manage theire sale. Magento has all features which needed to develope the ecommerce sites.
You should check out Yahoo's shopping cart. I have noticed that many sites use it. I have to use 1shoppingcart together past Worldpay. They are pretty good. However, in the future, I will use the independent option like Yahoo.
Zen Cart is the best, i always use it
PrestaShop is the world's fastest-growing e-commerce software company, and the software is completely open-source. This means that not only is it free to download, but the code is fully accessible and customizable. And if you're not comfortable touching the code, the control panel is extremely intuitive and easy to manage everything you need to start making sales, including shipping and payment processing.
All you need is a hosting provider and a domain name, and your site can be up and running in as little as 15 minutes.
