Default Moving away from shared hosting

My website has reached the point where shared hosting is becoming a bit frustrating. Nothing dramatic, but the site gets noticeably slower whenever there are background tasks running.

I’m looking at VPS options in the $15–25/month range. I came across hostpro.com and their smaller VPS plans seem to be within my budget.

I’m not very interested in managed services because I’m comfortable with Linux. For a fairly small PHP/MySQL website, would you start with 2–4 cores and 4 GB RAM, or is that too optimistic?

Bonuses such as SSL certificate, domain name, VPN, anti-malware, and others can certainly tip the scales.
If the web host includes a worthy website builder that can help speed up your sites, this could be the trump card that seals the deal for the site owners.
Try considering these reliable vps hosts:
    1) Exmasters.com
    2) Rightservers.com
    3) Bacloud.com

Having relied on hostpro.com for VPS hosting for a while, I can speak to the consistency. All services are backed up daily, giving you a recovery path from failed updates, hacking, or data damage. Support is staffed 24/7 by capable people and is free to use. Performance has been reliably fast.

For a small PHP/MySQL site with occasional background tasks, 2 vCPU / 4GB is honestly plenty - even 2GB would do with sane MySQL tuning. What you're feeling on shared is usually I/O contention, so prioritise NVMe storage and check whether the host caps IOPS, plus decent backup tooling.

Two things people underestimate when going unmanaged: you become the sysadmin (patching, firewall, monitoring), and migration day always finds DNS/TTL issues - lower TTL a day before the cutover, and keep the old account alive for a billing cycle as a rollback path. 4GB covers most small stores with headroom; growing further is usually just a reboot away on a VPS.

I’m very satisfied with the overall hosting performance. FireVM.com VPS servers are always up, and my site performs beautifully.
